Ryan was born and raised in Jackson and graduate from Jackson Hole High School. He moved back to Jackson in 2001 after living in Durango, Colorado and graduating from Fort Lewis College with a B.A. in Computer Science Information Systems. His family and love for the outdoors were his main reasons for returning to his hometown.

Since his return to Jackson he has been blessed with a daughter, Shilah, and a son, Thomas, the two most recent additions to an already extensive family in the valley. " After growing up in this community then living somewhere else for a while, I realize what a special place Jackson is, and everything it has to offer. The wildlife, outdoor adventures, and scenery are what makes Jackson such a special place. " Ryan says enthusiastically. Skiing, camping, hunting, fishing, river trips, and climbing, are just a few of the outdoor activities that Ryan enjoys in his spare time.
